South Korea’s Hanwha Investment & Securities has selected Chainlink market price and chart’s data standard and Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) as infrastructure for a planned global platform for tokenized real-world assets. The financial firm and Chainlink announced the strategic partnership on October 29, outlining plans to link asset issuance, distribution and institutional collateral workflows across blockchains.

The agreement positions Chainlink as a provider of pricing and net asset value data for assets issued on the platform, while CCIP is intended to connect assets and liquidity across supported public and private networks. Hanwha said it is in discussions with global managers and issuers about products that could reach institutional investors through the platform.

Data and cross-chain settlement

Reliable valuations and interoperability are two infrastructure requirements for institutions seeking to tokenize financial assets. Tokenized instruments may be issued on different networks, but firms also need pricing inputs and mechanisms to transfer assets or coordinate workflows without building a separate integration for every blockchain. Hanwha and Chainlink said their arrangement addresses those requirements through standardized data and connectivity.

The initiative is not an announcement that specified tokenized products have launched, and neither company disclosed assets already issued or transaction volumes. The companies instead described the partnership as infrastructure development and a framework for future institutional adoption.

Working group to study collateral

A joint working group will examine institutional onchain execution, custody and compliance, and standards for treating tokenized real-world assets as collateral. The partners also plan to explore Korea’s tokenized securities market, including valuation and reserve-verification approaches.

That focus matters because collateral use requires more than recording ownership on a blockchain. Financial institutions must establish what an asset represents, how it is valued, when it can be transferred and whether a recipient is permitted to hold it. Those questions remain distinct from any expected benefits of blockchain settlement.

What happens next

Chainlink said it would provide dedicated technical support and introduce Hanwha to its network of financial institutions and protocols. The announcement did not specify a platform launch date or committed investment amount. Investors should therefore distinguish the firms’ stated development plans from products already in operation.
