Bitcoin mining infrastructure company Luxor Technology announced a $16 million strategic funding round on October 27, led by CMT Digital, as the firm expands into artificial intelligence infrastructure and trading services for computing capacity.

Luxor said investors include Canaan, MicroBT, Halo, Steelhead and angel investors. The round contains both primary and secondary capital, according to the company’s official release. Luxor did not disclose a post-money valuation or a precise split between the two types of capital.

From Bitcoin mining tools to AI infrastructure

Luxor said it will use the funds to expand its agentic cloud platform, provide working capital for AI hardware distribution, develop compute derivative trading and hire additional engineering and commercial staff.

The company built its business in Bitcoin mining infrastructure, including mining pools, firmware, hardware trading, energy services and hashrate derivatives. Luxor said its hardware trading desk has handled $1 billion in ASIC mining equipment, while its energy division services more than 75 megawatts of load in U.S. power markets.

Its AI business applies related expertise to GPU and AI server procurement, cloud workloads and financial contracts referencing compute-rental prices. The firm said its agentic cloud platform had reached 1.8 million workloads during 2026 through September.

Why the funding is significant

The investment illustrates a wider business opportunity at the intersection of cryptocurrency mining, power infrastructure and AI. Both industries rely on access to specialized computing hardware, electricity and efficient operations, but their revenue models and risks are not identical.

Luxor says its over-the-counter business already offers cash-settled options and forward products based on compute-rental indexes. Developing that market is one use for the new capital, rather than a guarantee of substantial future trading activity.

The strategic round comes amid growing interest in combining digital asset infrastructure with AI operations. BlockBriefing has also covered Galaxy Digital’s expansion into data centers, another example of the sector’s shift toward high-performance computing.

Investors and clients will now be watching whether Luxor converts its Bitcoin mining relationships and infrastructure experience into sustainable AI-related revenue.
