Swiss digital-asset infrastructure company Taurus announced on October 29, 2026 that institutional clients can custody, issue and manage smart-contract assets on Stellar’s Soroban network through its existing custody and tokenization platforms.
Two Taurus products gain Soroban functionality
In its official announcement, Taurus said Taurus-PROTECT now supports custody and management of Soroban-based tokens. Its Taurus-CAPITAL platform also supports issuance and ongoing administration of these assets through institutional interfaces and APIs.
The change expands the types of Stellar assets available to Taurus clients. It does not mean every institution using Taurus will automatically issue a token or that all Stellar assets have the same regulatory treatment.
Supported token structures and standards
Taurus said the platform accommodates several smart-contract token models, including SEP-41, Stellar Asset Contracts, OpenZeppelin-based contracts and ERC-3643-derived assets adapted for regulated tokenization on Stellar, also referred to as SEP-57.
These models can include different rules around issuance, transfer eligibility and administrative control. In regulated markets, a security token may require legal documentation and verification of permitted holders beyond merely deploying code to a blockchain.
Stellar support began before today’s announcement
Taurus made its custody and tokenization platforms available on Stellar in 2024 and announced a related renewable-energy financing initiative with the Stellar Development Foundation and Turbo Energy in 2025.
The October 29 update specifically adds broader Soroban smart-contract support, rather than marking Taurus’s first relationship with Stellar. That distinction is important when assessing the new capabilities and existing customer integrations.
Institutional adoption requires actual issuances
The functionality could allow financial institutions to use familiar governance, custody and compliance workflows when adopting tokenized funds, securities or other assets on Stellar. For prospective users, the main benefit is technological continuity across multiple blockchain networks.
But a supported token standard is not a launched asset, and software availability does not prove an institution has completed a commercial issuance. Future disclosures about deployed funds, custody balances and asset volumes will be more useful measures of demand.
The same day, Curve Finance separately announced a Stellar StableSwap deployment, expanding the network’s available trading infrastructure.
