WalletConnect announced support for the Stellar network and a collaboration with Penrose Partners on October 29, 2026, aimed at bringing digital-asset payments to merchants in Bermuda.

Stellar support is live now

According to WalletConnect’s official announcement, its connectivity platform now supports Stellar wallets and applications, while WalletConnect Pay supports payments using the network. LOBSTR is the first Stellar wallet live with WalletConnect Pay under this rollout.

WalletConnect identified Fireblocks, Utila, LOBSTR and Arculus among companies supporting Stellar integration from launch. These existing network capabilities are distinct from the forthcoming rollout across Bermudian merchants.

PTIX will be the first local merchant

WalletConnect and Penrose Partners plan to start with Premier Tickets, known as PTIX, a Bermuda ticketing platform. The partners expect its merchant payments to launch in the second quarter of 2027, with other businesses potentially joining afterward.

The proposed structure allows a customer to pay from a wallet directly into an event organizer’s wallet rather than requiring PTIX to hold the transaction proceeds. WalletConnect says the design could cut settlement delays and help a ticketing platform serve multiple organizers through one integration.

Regulatory engagement is planned

The partners say they intend to apply to participate in the Bermuda Monetary Authority’s Innovation Hub. The announcement of an intention to seek engagement should not be presented as approval by the regulator or authorization of every prospective product.

Penrose Partners will support local merchant onboarding and education. Costs, eligible assets, customer protections and the practical merchant experience will depend on how the service is configured and implemented.

Bermuda’s broader onchain economy plan

The program supports the Bermuda government’s previously announced aspiration to make digital assets part of everyday commercial and public-sector payments. The island has developed a framework for digital-asset businesses, but a public policy ambition is not equivalent to immediate adoption by all merchants.

For readers, the key distinction is timing: wallet-level support exists now, while the first named Bermudian merchant implementation remains scheduled for 2027. A successful rollout will depend on merchant onboarding, compliance, liquidity and ordinary customers finding the option useful.
