Sony-linked blockchain network Soneium announced on October 27 that it plans to open two connected products on October 28: ipUSD, a dollar-denominated stablecoin, and IP Vault, a tokenized route for eligible users to gain exposure to a royalties investment fund. The underlying fund, managed by Partners Group and tokenized by Asseto, is described as holding $549 million in royalty-related assets.

The official Soneium announcement gives an estimated annual yield of 7% to 9% for the vault. That is a projection, not a guaranteed return, and it should not be treated as the interest rate on a bank deposit. Soneium scheduled both products to open on the morning of October 28 UTC; availability at a particular moment should be verified at the service itself.

What sits behind the $549 million fund?

Soneium says the Partners Group-managed portfolio contains royalty streams from music and entertainment alongside other intellectual-property and contractual revenue rights. The announcement mentions The Weeknd’s back catalogue, Discovery-related television rights and more than 100,000 streams in areas that also include pharmaceuticals, brands and energy-transition projects.

The $549 million figure describes the underlying royalties fund, not deposits already committed to the newly launched IP Vault. The distinction matters because a large underlying portfolio does not establish demand for the blockchain product itself.

Asseto provides tokenization infrastructure connecting the fund to the Soneium blockchain. Soneium frames the initiative as part of its plan to bring entertainment intellectual property and royalty cash flows into blockchain-based financial products.

How deposits and withdrawals work

Users obtain ipUSD through conversions involving Startale USD (USDSC) or USDC.e, then deposit ipUSD into IP Vault. The announcement describes a 1:1 conversion arrangement for acquiring ipUSD from those assets. A 1:1 conversion mechanism does not eliminate stablecoin, reserve, counterparty or smart-contract risk.

Deposits are processed in rounds rather than immediately converted into fund holdings. Eligible users receive vault shares after a round settles; the first settlement is scheduled for November 2. New money enters the underlying fund on a monthly schedule, and rounds can reach capacity.

Soneium lists a minimum deposit of 100 ipUSD. The share value is expected to be updated monthly according to fund reporting. The vault offers standard and instant withdrawal mechanisms, but the ability to withdraw and the timing depend on liquidity and settlement arrangements. Soneium does not plan to provide a secondary market for the share tokens at launch.

Why the advertised yield needs context

The estimated 7% to 9% annual yield is sensitive to royalty income, portfolio valuations, fees and investment results. Vault shares can lose value, investors may receive less than they deposit, and access is restricted to eligible users in supported jurisdictions.

These mechanics are different from simply holding ipUSD in a wallet. Before settlement into vault shares, deposits remain as ipUSD and may be cancellable under the stated terms. After settlement, holders are exposed to the changing value of the fund position.

BlockBriefing previously covered Soneium’s wider plans for onchain entertainment and a future ecosystem token. IP Vault and ipUSD are distinct products; neither announcement means that the proposed ecosystem token has already been issued.

The October 28 opening is a notable test of demand for tokenized intellectual-property income, but actual deposits, redemptions and realized returns will be the more important evidence of how the product performs.
