BitGo has created BitGo Labs to research products combining artificial intelligence and digital assets. In its October 21 announcement, the infrastructure company said the unit would build prototypes and work with developers, universities and financial institutions.

What BitGo Labs plans to develop

BitGo named Gokubu, described as a consumer application, among its first projects. The company says it combines an AI-powered card, a personalised financial assistant and rewards. The announcement does not independently establish product performance, pricing, adoption or how personal financial data will be handled.

AI agents can research information and carry out digital tasks, while programmable payments may settle some transactions. Blockchain is one option among established payment rails; its use does not automatically make a product cheaper or safer. See BlockBriefing’s report on stablecoin transfers and on-chain settlement.

What the company has yet to demonstrate

Product availability, pricing, privacy terms and independent security assessments will provide a clearer picture of the initiative’s progress. Any AI service that can initiate financial transactions needs clear permissions, transaction limits and user approval controls.
