NEAR Mobile says version 4.0.0 of its self-custodial wallet introduces gasless swaps and transfers for supported assets across more than 35 blockchains, using NEAR Intents to simplify cross-chain execution. The update is intended to let users complete eligible transactions without separately holding the native fee token of each network.

The wallet developer’s November 4 company-distributed release describes support for more than 120 assets and says NEAR Mobile has surpassed one million downloads. The download figure and application-store rankings are company-reported adoption indicators; they are not independently verified counts of active traders or funded accounts.

NEAR Intents coordinates supported cross-chain swaps

Users moving tokens across networks often need different gas tokens, separate balances and bridging steps. NEAR Mobile’s new experience aims to combine these actions in one interface. Through NEAR Intents, users specify the asset they want to receive while the supporting infrastructure coordinates execution on eligible networks.

The company says it sponsors relayer fees for supported transactions. That is the basis of the term ‘gasless’ in the announcement: the user does not need to maintain a separate native gas balance for those actions. It does not mean blockchain operations have no underlying economic cost, nor does it establish that every transfer or smart-contract interaction is free.

Users should still review the available quote, supported network, destination address and any execution constraints. Liquidity, routing and congestion can affect the final outcome, particularly for less actively traded assets.

Unified balances aim to reduce manual bridging

NEAR Mobile also describes a unified approach to supported balances on different chains. It gives the example of USDC market price and chart spread across Ethereum market price and chart, Base, BNB market price and chart Chain and TRON market price and chart. An eligible user may be able to initiate supported transfers or swaps from an aggregated interface rather than bridging each balance manually.

Those tokens still exist on their respective blockchains until execution changes the positions. A simplified display should not be confused with a single bank deposit or a promise that every network has identical security and settlement rules. BlockBriefing’s guide to transfers on the wrong network explains why network selection and destination compatibility remain important.

Download figures and app rankings need context

NEAR Mobile said it appeared in app-store finance rankings across 38 countries over a recent 31-day period and reached the top position in Serbia. The release attributed those rankings to Toplify. Such measurements reflect visibility over a stated interval, not necessarily continued usage or real transaction volume.

The wallet also offers NEAR staking and account-management features. Readers should consult NEAR Mobile’s product documentation for current supported routes, as capabilities and eligible assets can change after an announcement.

Self-custody leaves users responsible for protecting access and reviewing approvals. Cross-chain infrastructure and smart contracts may face bugs, liquidity failures or malicious transactions. A smoother user interface can reduce complexity but cannot eliminate those risks.

The key development is the newly promoted gasless experience for supported actions. Its longer-term significance will depend on independently measurable usage, reliability and costs once more users interact with the updated wallet. Independent user activity and completed transaction records would be more informative than download rankings alone.
