Strategy Inc. bought 811
Bitcoin market price and chart for approximately $65.5 million between October 26 and November 1, lifting its total treasury position to 849,327 BTC, according to a November 2 filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission.
Its Form 8-K disclosure put the average purchase price for the latest acquisition at $80,846 per Bitcoin, inclusive of fees and expenses. The filing also detailed common-share sales, preferred-stock repurchases and changes to the company’s dollar liquidity reserves.
Strategy’s Bitcoin Holdings Reach 849,327 BTC
As of November 1, Strategy reported having spent an aggregate $64.08 billion acquiring its Bitcoin treasury, at an average cost of $75,451 per coin. That cumulative cost basis is not the same as the current market value of the holdings, which varies with Bitcoin prices.
The latest 811 BTC purchase is comparatively modest relative to the company’s total reserves, but it extends its long-running approach of accumulating Bitcoin using corporate financing and available capital.
The acquisition also illustrates why investors should look beyond headline Bitcoin counts. The funding mechanism, cash position and potential shareholder dilution influence the economic consequences for Strategy investors.
Stock Sales Fund Bitcoin Purchases
The company disclosed sales of 1,178,552 shares of its Class A common stock through its at-the-market program during the October 26βNovember 1 reporting period. Those sales generated around $164 million in net proceeds.
Strategy allocated approximately $65.5 million of the proceeds to Bitcoin purchases and the remaining $98.5 million to its separate USD Cash balance. Share issuance can provide capital without immediate borrowing, but it can also dilute existing shareholders’ ownership interests.
The company maintains both USD Cash for broader treasury purposes and a separate USD Reserve intended to support preferred-stock dividends and interest obligations. These should not be confused with its Bitcoin holdings.
Strategy Repurchases Preferred Shares
The same filing records the repurchase of 2,092,035 STRC preferred shares for approximately $208.2 million, funded from USD Cash. Strategy also used $43.4 million from its USD Reserve to pay preferred dividends during the reporting period.
It reported a USD Reserve balance of $4.79 billion and USD Cash of $132.7 million as of November 1. The distinction matters because the reserve supports specified payment obligations, while cash may be deployed more broadly under the company’s capital framework.
Strategy said it had remaining capacity under its preferred-stock repurchase and common-stock repurchase programs. These authorizations do not mean the company is required to execute future repurchases.
What the Filing Means for Bitcoin Markets
Strategy’s accumulation is relevant to the market because its balance sheet holds a very large amount of Bitcoin. However, a corporate purchase should not be interpreted as proof that prices will rise, and one filing cannot establish the direction of the broader market.
BlockBriefing has separately covered Bitcoin market volatility following the recent Binance security incident, providing context for the period in which Strategy made its purchases.
Investors evaluating Strategy face exposure to Bitcoin prices alongside the company’s financing structure, equity issuance, preferred obligations and operating decisions. Its reported average acquisition cost is an accounting reference, not a guaranteed support level for Bitcoin.
The next company disclosures should clarify whether further purchases, issuance or buybacks occur. For now, the SEC filing confirms the 811 BTC acquisition and its stated funding allocation, without making any prediction about future returns.
